FAB Membership

FAB membership will be changing! From January 2008, membership will include subscription to our very own International Journal of Feminist Approaches to Bioethics.

From 1 November 2007, all FAB subscriptions are via Indiana University Press. The Philosophy Documentation Center is no longer able to process FAB memberships after this date.

If you were previously a member of FAB through the Philosophy Documentation Center, you should receive a renewal notice directly from Indiana University Press.

From 1 November 2007, all address changes should be managed through "My Account" via Indiana University Press.

Sponsored Memberships via a dues waiver

A limited number of complimentary sponsored memberships and associated journal subscriptions are available to FAB members for whom the full FAB membership rate is unaffordable. These are funded by 'sponsors membership' fees.

To qualify, one must provide the following:

  • Contact details - first and last name; full postal address and zip code; phone number and email
  • A signed statement affirming lack of income (less than US$20 000)
  • Evidence of current feminist scholarship or related work (details of presentations, publications, research in progress, other relevant activities)
  • Evidence of 2007 FAB membership (e.g., membership number and expiry date or email address given with the membership)
  • Evidence that the institution(s) with which the applicant is affiliated has been asked to subscribe to the FAB journal and has declined (an email from a librarian is sufficient)
  • A request for electronic access to the journal (a request for a print copy requires justification).

Successful applicants should make the journal available to others in their local area through FAB country representatives or similar, and will be asked to provide details of this in any subsequent applications

Financial Support

The Audre Lorde Memorial Fund for Bioethics Research honours the memory of Audre Lorde whose life and work personifies FAB’s mission. Donations to this fund are tax deductible in the US and in other jurisdictions where allowable. The donations are used to fund scholarships and travel grants for deserving FAB members who are speaking at our biennial conferences.
